Thales common tactical radio to be installed on Swedish vehicles

The Swedish Armed Forces has selected Thales to provide its SOTAS IP-based vehicle intercom for tactical communications for several Swedish Army vehicles.
Most of the armored and wheeled platforms for the Army will be equipped with the common tactical radio, including the CV90 and family versions, STRV122 (Main Battle Tank Leo2), and BV309, according to the company.
This vehicle communication infrastructure will be a standard fit for vehicles being delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces and also a retrofit to legacy platforms, a Thales spokesman stated in an e-mail. The radios also meet a standardization initiative at the ministry of defense level between Nordic countries.
Thales will deliver will provide radio, telephony, Ethernet, and intercom and management services for vehicles used by the armed forces.
Existing radios and communications networks in vehicles will not be replaced as part of this contract, but Thales will provide a complete new vehicle communication infrastructure that allows for integration of new radios, according to the spokesman.
The company expects to deliver the first trial systems in mid-2010.
